September 19 - 21, in Pierre, you’ll have program orientation and go behind the scenes of SD State Government, to learn how our state leadership works from the people who make it work.

October 17 - 19, Brookings, home to our state’s land grant university, is a perfect setting for you to gain valuable insight into our state’s #1 industry, agriculture, as well as the all-important topic of education.

November 14 - 16,  in Rapid City, you’ll dive into the incredible impact of South Dakota tourism, see first-hand the impact of military assistance in our state, and explore natural resources available.

Because the Holidays are a busy time with family, friends and work, Leadership South Dakota will be on hiatus until January.

January 9 - 11,  we’ll travel to Huron to see rural South Dakota, learn more about diversity in small communities, and their focus and initiatives.

 February 20 - 22, Kyle, SD is where you'll explore Native American history and culture. It will be an opportunity to better understand the historical issues impacting life on the nine reservations in South Dakota, as well as emerging success stories.

March 20 - 22, In Sioux Falls we'll
explore the health care and financial services industries. The city is home to the country's largest rural health
systems and increasingly a financial hub for the entire United States.

March 29th - Eight months of hard work pays off in Chamberlain. Time for program graduation!

Program Components

Leadership

Provide sessions to strengthen the participants’ knowledge of leadership. Participants will hear from current leaders and receive training on successful leadership behaviors.


Our South Dakota History

Participants will learn more about all the state offers, its rich history, and the leaders that contributed before and now to its growth and development



Topical Discussions

Participants will engage in conversations with speakers and fellow participants on current and relevant topics that impact our state. Activities will be held to provide participants with the chance to explore the cause and effect of these issues.



Network & Relationship Building

Participants will have the opportunity during each program weekend to form meaningful relationships and build professional networks with their classmates. These relationships have proven to be one of the most significant benefits of the Leadership South Dakota experience.
