Pierre Site Visits Inspiring and Thought Provoking

Class members visited the South Dakota’s Women’s Prison in September.  An important visit as South Dakota struggles with the fourth largest population of incarcerated females in the United States behind Oklahoma, Wyoming and Kentucky.  Additional stops included a guided tour of the Cultural Heritage Museum.

Leadership Class 2019 Meet Committed State Leaders in Pierre

Our first session in Pierre served as an excellent opportunity to meet each other and learn about the foundation of our state government.  We were fortunate to hear from Governor Dennis Daugaard as he completes his second term.  Governor Daugaard has been a friend of Leadership South Dakota and has shared with us in each of our five years.


Close Up Look At Two Critical State Industries: Ag and Manufacturing

Our Brookings session focused on South Dakota Agriculture and Manufacturing. True to form, the Brookings community did not disappoint. Daktronics leaders hosted the Leadership SD Class for a day and provided an extensive tour of the Daktronics’ plant.  This international company is a tremendous example of an organization that promotes its local community through involvement and joint initiatives.


Alumni News – Four Great Years & Counting

With the fifth class of Leadership SD underway and closing in on over 200 alumni, preparation for launching an official Leadership South Dakota Alumni membership began. A team of alumni representatives from previous classes were selected as the Alumni Leadership Team.


Alumni In The News

Governor Dennis Daugaard presented the 2018 Governor’s Awards to South Dakota businesses and workers who have made significant contributions to the employment of people with disabilities. OurAlum, Catherine Greseth,  of Custer (Class of 2017) was awarded the Outstanding Citizen with a Disability Award for her efforts.


First Annual Alumni Leadership Event A Hit!

Over 70 alumni from throughout the state attended the Leadership South Dakota first annual alumni event on October 25th. Representing classes from 2015 through 2018, alumni event participants had a great opportunity to hear from class members in two different panel discussions.


Annual Membership Announced

Leadership SD Alumni Membership begins in January 2019 and offer an opportunity for alumni to stay involved and connected, continue to learn, and to extend the leadership experience.

Leadership South Dakota Membership offers multiple activities; in person and through webinars.  In addition, Leadership SD Alumni members will gain access to a new Leadership SD “alumni only” web site portal.
