State Government Program 

Leadership South Dakota for State Government is an opportunity for state employees to see South Dakota from different perspectives, meet leaders from across the state, and gain knowledge about other departments and leaders in state government. Each year, 25 employees from the departments and bureaus in the executive branch are selected to participate in the program. 

2023 State Government Program Schedule

Program Orientation Rapid City | April 26 – 28, 2023 Program orientation, along with a deep dive into South Dakota tourism, our many natural resources and the key role of our state’s military.	Rural South Dakota Huron | May 17 – 19, 2023 Visit Huron, SD. Take a visit to a Hutterite Colony and a rural community.	Ag & Manufacturing Brookings | June 14 – 16, 2023 Home to SD’s land grant university. Gain valuable insight into our state’s #1 industry, agriculture, as well as the all-important topic of education.
Native American Culture & Values Mission | August 2-4, 2023 Learn more about Native American history and culture by listening to Tribal Relations speakers and emerging success stories.	Health & Financial Services Sioux Falls | August 30 – September 1, 2023 We’ll hear about the country’s rural health care systems and the financial industries in Sioux Falls.	Graduation & Program Wrap-up Pierre | October 4 – 5, 2023 Time to celebrate months of learning, growing and the group’s hard work at the graduation program in Pierre!
